About Mobile, AL Online

Mobile, AL Online is a privately owned and operated web site, completely unaffiliated with and uninfluenced by any local, state or federal governement office. It's primary purpose is to promote the business and residential community within the Historic Business and Entertainment District of the City of Mobile, to act as a catalyst for change within our government and community, and to share with the world a bit of our southern culture, heritage and traditions that we hold so dear to our hearts.

Originally established in 2002 as an "unofficial" news site from which articles were published that would never have made it into the mainstream media, this site has undergone many changes. It was redesigned in August of 2005 using a blog system as its foundation in the hopes that articles appearing here about downtown Mobile, AL would stand a better chance of being syndicated on other sites through our RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. We currently offer free online weather reports and maps since the ever-changing weather plays such a vital role in everyone's lives on the Gulf Coast. And, over time we will be offering many more features to our site visitors, including a "yellow pages" style directory of businesses within the immediate community and a calendar of events.

It is my firm belief that if our downtown community is to truly realize revitalization and economic growth, it will be up to each and every member of this community to come together under a single goal of promoting our downtown shops, galleries and service providers, encouraging residential migration and tourism to our inner-city, and steering our elected officials towards sound decisions that benefit us all. To accomplish this, I will soon seek to enlist the assistance of other business owners and community leaders in maintaining this site with fresh written content through which they will be able to convey their opinions, concerns and points of view on downtown Mobile, as well.
